PetCraft Disciplinary Guidelines

This document attempts to define certain types of abuse and outline punishments for related infractions.

The "Warnings" System

Typically verbal warnings will be given before an official warning.

However, if you receive 3 warnings within 7 days, you will be automatically kicked and banned for 1 hour. Your 4th warning will result in a 24 hour ban. Ban duration increase if a player continues to accrue warnings.

Warnings expire after 14 days.

Disciplinary Actions for Specific Situations

A Note on Rule Bending:

Misinterpreting, finding loopholes or warping the meaning of the rules for an advantage is not permitted. In such cases, the situation will be reviewed by higher staff and appropriate punishments will be given.

Spam/Command Spam

Repeating the same phrase or commands (such as /afk) multiple times. Overuse of commands may result in a ban instead of a warning.

Inappropriate language

Bypassing the swear filter or making sexual comments and phrases.

Hate Speech

We have zero tolerance for discrimination, racism or homophobia on our server network. Hate speech is not allowed anywhere on the network, including private messages or chat channels.

Casual slang — such as ‘gay’, 'retarded', etc. — is strongly discouraged. Overuse be treated as Inappropriate Language. However, if these words are clearly being used to offend or attack, they may be considered hate speech.

A great rule of thumb: if you find yourself wondering "will this break the rules?" while typing something edgy into chat, that's the time to start hitting backspace.

Suggested Disciplinary Action Path — Hate Speech Permanent ban from all services.

Death, D-Dos, Dox, and SWAT: Threats, Attempts or Attacks.

Anything containing a direct serious threat to someone’s safety, wellbeing or privacy. Specific types of attacks are classified as:

Threats of death or to harm a player (or anyone else)

Threats to commit denial-of-service attacks

Threats to "dox" (publish others' private info publicly) players.

Threats or swat players.

Harassment/Personal Attacks

Intentional harassment or personal attacks of another player.

Impersonation

When a player is attempting to impersonate another player or a staff member through /nick or any other method.

Suggested Disciplinary Action Path — Impersonation Warning → 1 hour mute → 1 day ban + Name change ability revoked

Third Party Trades

Offering or trading or requesting any items outside of PetCraft (Optifine cape, etc.) or IRL money for a service in game. Do not conduct these transactions on our network.

Hacked Client/Disallowed Modifications

Hacked clients and mods are NOT allowed to be used on the server network, with the exception of mods explicitly listed in Allowed Mods section.

Macros

While some types of macros are allowed, anything that loops commands or automatically performs extended tasks for you without having to interact with the game for extended periods (over 5 minutes) is strictly prohibited. This includes external programs or first party interference such as weighting your keyboard or mouse.

Inappropriate Name or Skin

Having a name that breaks one or more of our rules will result in a ban until you name is changed. Having an inappropriate skin will also result in an immediate ban until you skin is changed.

Suggested Disciplinary Action Path — Bad Nick or Skin Immediate banning of nickname / skin.

Inappropriate Content, including Builds, Warps, and Links

Do not build structures that would not be considered appropriate for all audiences to experience. Do not name warps offensively. Do not post links to inappropriate websites or content not safe for all ages.

Suggested Disciplinary Action Path — Bad Content 1 day ban & offending item removed immediately.

Ban Evading

It is an offence to logging in on any servers with an alt account while your main (or other) account has been banned. Note that evading a ban for an inappropriate username or skin is allowed and will not result in you being punished.

Mute Evading

Mute evading using, for example, an alt account. (Using signs to talk when muted is allowed.)

Alt Account Limit

Each player is allowed to have up to 2 accounts online at the same time, with the expectation that the second account is used for camera / replaymod recording or staff testing. However, multiple different people playing from the same IP is allowed. Trying to bypass this limit with proxies or a VPN is not allowed.

Setting homes / warps without permission

Setting a home or warp on another players island or land without permission. Setting a home or warp in a lobby, hub, PvP arena or server-managed structure.

Staff Disrespect / Server Disrespect

Server staff are volunteers who offer their own time freely to keep our network running. We expect players to treat staff with respect, just the same way they would treat you with respect. Being disrespectful towards staff members is not allowed.

Being disrespectful towards the server as a whole, or making hateful comments about the server is not allowed. We love discourse and always want to improve. If you are having an issue, please contact staff to address it using Discord.

Abusing HelpOp or StaffMsg

Abusing the /helpop or /smsg command by sending too many messages, or sending messages after being asked to stop, is not allowed.
